Two people were arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic violation led to a vehicle search.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says a vehicle was pulled over on Baggett Lane for a blinker violation. While deputies spoke to the driver, 45-year-old Shawn Douthitt, and his passenger, 18-year-old Katherine Wilkins, both of Paducah, a Paducah Police Department canine officer was called to the scene. The dog alerted to the presence of drugs while it performed an open air search around the car.

Deputies say a subsequent search revealed methamphetamine and meth pipes on Wilkins, and two more baggies of meth inside the car.

Douthitt was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) - third or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, and the traffic violation.

Wilkins was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) - first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.
