Trees Down, Stoplights Out in Storm Aftermath

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY - The storm that moved through the region Thursday night left damage in its wake including downed trees and power lines.
A tree fell on a house on Mississippi Street in Paducah, and 70 mile per hour winds were reported near Lourdes Hospital. Crews have also reported downed trees at various locations in the area including at Bell Lane off South Friendship in Lone Oak.
Similar incidents of downed trees and wind damage were reported across the region, especially in Lyon and Trigg counties.
Pea size hail was reported at Barkley Regional Airport, where winds were measured at 59 miles per hour.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is asking that motorists use caution this morning while traveling in the wake of Thursday night's storms.
There were several reports of traffic signals out of service due to localized power outages in the Paducah area. Highway crews have put out four-way stop signs at a number of these locations.
Motorists should use appropriate caution and be alert for water and storm debris on roadways this morning.
