The case against a former McCracken County deputy jailer will be decided by a jury this fall.

According to the McCracken County Circuit Court Clerk, Chad Campbell appeared in court Monday, and a jury trial was set for October 22.

Campbell faces two counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse and one count of harassment with physical contact. Those charges stem from an investigation in May 2017, after allegations by a female deputy jailer that she had been inappropriately touched and harassed at work.

Last month, a lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court against Campbell, Jailer Tonya Ray and the county for violating the rights of the female employee. She claims she had to quit her job out of concern for her physical, emotional and mental well-being. Ray was named in the lawsuit because the plaintiff said the jailer did not act on the employee's complaint, or other complaints against Campbell by female inmates at the jail.
