Troop 1 Salutes the Red, White & Blue Today
By Ro Morse
PADUCAH, KY - You know it's a patriotic holiday in Paducah when you see Boy Scout Troop 1 delivering their American flags early in the morning and returning at sunset to retrieve them.
Bradley Baker (left) and Jared Lang are one of the teams of scouts out this 4th of July placing flags in people's front yards. It's often a bit hard to find the sleeve that holds the flag because it's burried in the ground and coverd by grass. That's why they have a standard location for each flag placement. It makes it a bit easier to find. The troop is currently placing over 100 flags throughout the City of Paducah.
The scouts place the flag, salute and they are off to the next location.
If you'd like to be part of their holiday flag fundraising program, go online;

For a $50 donation to Boy Scout Troop 1, you'll have an American flag placed in your yard six times a year: President's Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Veteran's Day. The scouts arrive to place Old Glory at sunrise and return to retrieve her at sunset that day. All the proceeds from this service benefit Troop 1 projects in the community.
