Two Paducah residents were arrested on Tuesday after a traffic stop for driving the wrong way on Broadway.

According to Paducah Police, the driver, 64-year-old Roger A. Mathis, admitted that his passenger, 47-year-old Willetta M. Hardin had just purchased drugs. Officers discovered a plastic bag containing suspected crack cocaine, which fell from Hardin's lap when she was asked to step out of the vehicle.

Officers say that further investigation revealed that Mathis had paid Hardin $125, for which she had agreed to have sex with him. Hardin denied engaging in prostitution and said the money belonged to Mathis.

Both were arrested, Mathis on charges of prostitution and careless driving, and Hardin on charges of prostitution and first degree possession of a controlled substance (second offense). They were booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
