PADUCAH, KY - A pair of local men were hospitalized Saturday after a head-on collision on US 62 West in McCracken County.
An SUV driven by 20-year-old Dillon Ferguson of Wickliffe was travelling eastbound in the 8800 block of Blandville Road (US 62) when an unknown white SUV crossed the center line, forcing Ferguson's vehicle to exit the right-hand side of the highway.
Ferguson lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the path of a westbound truck driven by 41-year-old Jason Wildharber of LaCenter. Wildharber failed in his attempt to stop and instead collided with Ferguson's SUV, forcing both vehicles off the roadway.
Ferguson and his passenger, 22-year-old Derrick Ferguson of Paducah, each had to be extricated by mechanical means. After Concord Fire Fighters and Mercy EMS were able to remove the Fergusons from the SUV, Dillon Ferguson was transported to Baptist Health Hospital and Derrick Ferguson was air lifted to Deconess Hospital in Evansville by PHI Life Flight Helicopter. There was no immediate word on whether or not Wildharber was injured in the collision.
The unknown white SUV that crossed the center line and caused the accident left the scene before authorities arrived. If the public has any information regarding the SUV, they are urged to contact the McCracken County Sheriff's Department at 270-444-4719.
