The Friends of the McCracken County Public Library's annual summer used book sale is next weekend.

The sale will run from 9 am to 7 pm on Friday, July 20 and 9 am to 1 pm Saturday in Paducah's St Paul Lutheran Church’s gym.

Most hardback books and trade edition paperback books sell for $1 each. Other paperback books are offered for 50 cents. Media materials are individually priced. Special collection titles are offered well below market prices. Saturday is "bag day” and the remaining materials, except for the special collections, are sold for $5 per bag. Grocery sacks will be provided.

The collection of more than 20,000 titles is sorted by topic as well as by local and special interest. Media materials are sorted by format. This year’s media collection features a larger-than-usual collection of items of interest to children and young adults. Classic American writers are well-represented in this year’s literature collection. Each sale offers a new collection. At the end of each book sale, the remaining materials are donated to other organizations.

Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales are donated to the McCracken County Public Library in support of programming and collection development.

"In the last twelve months, the Friends donated $30,000 to the library, which is a new record!" said Friends of the Library President Paula Franklin.

Cash, checks, and credit cards for charges over $10 are accepted forms of payment.
