Vasser Rape Trial Set to Begin May 24

PADUCAH - A trial has been rescheduled for a man charged in 2018 with raping a child and making a video of the abuse.

According to the McCracken County Circuit Court Clerk, 26-year-old Tirrell Vasser had a hearing on Thursday from jail. 

His trial had been scheduled for October 5, but was postponed. On Thursday the judge scheduled a new trial date of May 24, 2021. 

Vasser was arrested June 13, 2018 after a woman told Paducah Police she had found a video of a male acquaintance engaging in sexual activity with her daughter, who was six years old at the time. The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Vasser was arrested at his home after a brief foot chase and scuffle. He faces charges of first-degree rape, use of a minor in a sexual performance involving physical injury, possessing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, resisting arrest, and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot.
