McCRACKEN COUNTY, KY - A McCracken County man was taken to the hospital by ambulance Saturday after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in a wheelchair.

Authorities say 63-year-old Jimmy Choat of Paducah was crossing the street in the 3700 block of Clarks River Road at 8pm when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Wade Deremo of Tiline. Officers say Choat was on the ground and unconscious when emergency personnel arrived.

Choat reportedly did not use a crosswalk, and did not have any reflective devices attached to the wheelchair.

Both men were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Deremo was treated and released. Choat was listed in critical but stable condition.
