A West Paducah man faces numerous charges following a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, at around 3 P.M. deputies stopped a car at the intersection of US Hwy 60 and Olivet Church Road.

Deputies were informed during a record check of the driver, identified as 59-year-old Paul Evitts of West Paducah, that Evitts was on parole and had an active arrest warrant for parole violation.

A drug detection dog alerted the deputies to the presence of narcotics, and numerous items were found during a search. Deputies said a hidden compartment contained a methamphetamine smoking pipe as well as marijuana.

Deputies also found more methamphetamine, syringes, electronic scales, Hydrocone pills, other drug paraphernalia, as well as cash believed to be the result of drug sales.

Once Evitts was placed in the deputy's cruiser, deputies found that he was attempting to hide more Hydrocodone pills and meth.

As the deputies were finishing their search of the car, they found a stolen Kentucky license plate that had been reported stolen on November 14th from a resident on Nathan Drive.

Evitts was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property, and other charges.

He was booked into the McCracken County Jail.
