A Paducah woman has been arrested for theft of prescriptions while on the job.

Paducah Police say 55-year-old Mary Dalton was a cook at an assisted living facility, and was accused by a resident of stealing hydrocodone pills. Administrators determined that the woman was missing 77 pills. Dalton was interviewed by the Police Department's drug investigator, and after initially denying the accusation, Dalton admitted taking the pills.

When presented with evidence, a McCracken County Grand Jury indicted Dalton on one count of theft by unlawful taking of a controlled substance. She was arrested Wednesday at her home by a McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy and taken to McCracken County Jail.

Police say she has also been fired from her job.
