PADUCAH, KY - A Wickliffe woman was taken to a Paducah hospital for treatment Thursday morning, after she was thrown from her vehicle in an accident on I-24 between US 62 and US 60.
Paducah Police say 26-year-old Jessica L. Buckman was westbound on the interstate at 9:15 am when she failed to recognize that traffic was slowing in front of her. She swerved to avoid a rear-end collision, and overcorrected. Her SUV crossed the median, became airborne, overturned, and landed in a ditch on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes.

Buckman landed in a ditch after being thrown from her vehicle. She was taken to Western Baptist for treatment.

In a separate incident Thursday afternoon, a Paducah man was injured after he rode his bicycle into the path of oncoming traffic.

Police reports say 76-year-old Clayton A. Gilliam was driving south on North 12th St. at 12:40 pm. He was heading toward Broadway, when 23-year-old Darris Pierce of Paducah rode from a parking lot into his path.

Witnesses confirmed to officers that Pierce did ride his bike through a parking lot, into the street, and into the path of Gilliam's truck.

Pierce was taken by ambulance to Western Baptist for treatment.
