Worker at Shawnee Fossil Plant Dies After Accident

A worker at TVA's Shawnee Fossil Plant has died after an accident over the weekend. 

Scott Brooks from TVA Public Relations said Tuesday that the man injured in an accident in the rail yard Sunday evening. He died Monday at a hospital where he was being treated.

Brooks said the man was an employee of G•UB•MK, a contractor that has worked at TVA plants for several years. 

Brooks said since the accident took place on TVA property, they will conduct an investigation.

"Regardless of whether they're a contractor or a full-time TVA employee, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the co-workers. It's always a tough situation, regardless of who they're working for at the time," Brooks said.
