The Yeiser Art Center (YAC) is hosting its 25th annual regional high school art exhibition, Teen Spirit, opening today with a reception from 2-4 pm. The exhibit is open for the public through December 16.

The annual Teen Spirit exhibit is sponsored by Paducah School of Art & Design, Kentucky Arts Council and Kentucky Care.

This annual juried exhibit is free to enter for teens currently in grades 9 through 12. Selection to exhibit by the juror is a significant honor considering the high volume of entries and jury process. A long running YAC program, Teen Spirit is now in its 25th year and continues to be a highlight of the exhibition calendar as it continually fills the gallery with a plethora of bourgeoning talent.

This year, YAC received 266 entries from 9th - 12th graders at eight regional High Schools and Home School Academies including Ballard Memorial High School, Community Christian Academy, Massac County High School, McCracken County High School, Tilghman High School, Upward Call Christian School, and Vienna High School. From these entries, juror Ashley Barnett, artist and instructor, chose 100 pieces for inclusion in this year's exhibition. Painting, drawing, photography, digital works, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and jewelry will all be on display.

Thanks to the Teen Spirit exhibition sponsors, Paducah School of Art and Design and Domino’s Pizza, YAC is able to offer numerous cash prizes and a pizza party for participating artists. Teen Spirit awards include First Place $150, Second Place $75, Third Place $50 and 3 Honorable Mentions $25 each. Awards will be announced during the opening Reception

Located at 200 Broadway, in historic downtown Paducah's Market House, the Yeiser Art Center is a non-profit visual arts organization celebrating more than fifty years of serving the community through exhibitions and education throughout the Tri-State Region. The Yeiser Art Center is wheelchair accessible and is open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm.
