The National Weather Service office in Paducah says we'll see midweek thunderstorms, and associated rain ranging from 1 to 3 inches before clearing out on Friday.
Southern Illinois may see the most precipitation of 2-3 inches, according to meteorologists. Counties in Illinois along the Ohio River and much of westernmost Kentucky may expect two inches or less, and around an inch along the Tennessee line into the lakes area.
Periods of heavy rain may cause some isolated flooding in low-lying areas, and the cumulative runoff could cause some rivers to rise.
As the rain nears, temperatures will rise into the upper 60s to mid 70s and will be accompanied by gusty winds in thunderstorms.
The weekend will be drier, but temperatures will fall back into the 50s.
