Shots were fired Tuesday night during an altercation in Metropolis.

A witness told West Kentucky Star that gun shots were heard about 10:30 pm in the 400 block of 11th Street, and police and an ambulance were on the scene within a few minutes.

Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse said an altercation took place near Vienna Street and 11th Street, and shots were fired. He said nobody was shot, but a 45-year-old man and 32-year-old woman had minor injuries from the fight. They were taken to local hospitals, where they were treated and released.

Masse said the incident may have been drug-related, and the investigation is continuing, with an arrest likely.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the department's detective division at 618-524-2310.
