Arrest Made in 2011 Southern IL Death

MARION, IL - Marion Police say a local man is in custody after being charged in the death of a man outside a Marion bar last year.
Officers says 25-year-old Dominique Smith is being held at the Williamson County Jail on $1million bond. He is is charged with killing 46-year-old Marcus Monroe in the parking lot of PIPS2 bar, located on Boyton St. in Marion.
Police responded to a call of shots being fired at the bar shortly before 11 pm on the the night of July 8, 2011. They found an injured Monroe, who was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where he died.
Officers are not giving much information about what led them to Smith, saying only that the investigation was extensive, and that he was located at an undisclosed location in Jackson County, Illinois.
