The bodies of two men have been recovered from the Ohio River near Joppa this morning, after they went missing while swimming last night.

The McCracken County Coroner’s office confirmed Brian Burkhead, 26, and his uncle, Vince Snell, 50, accidentally drowned in the river.

McCracken County Emergency Management Director Paul Carter told KFVS-TV Burkhead's body was found around 2:00 am. Snell's body was found about 9:00 am, about a mile downstream from LaFarge Corporation.

Burkhead and Snell were last seen swimming between the shore and a sandbar on the river. Carter said Snell went under, and Burkhead went to help him.
