Dr. Douglas Brauer will be the 2nd candidate interviewed to become the 7th president of Shawnee Community College.

Brauer has served as the Vice-President of Economic Developmental and Innovative Workforce Solutions at Richland Community College since 2008. He previously held the position of Global Manager, Manufacturing Operations and Engineering with the Andrew Corporation. At Moraine Valley Community College from 2000 to 2003, he served as Dean, Workforce Development and Community Services. Brauer also taught as part of the adjunct faculty at Lewis University, Joliet Junior College, and Moraine Valley Community College. 
 
Brauer received his M.S. from University of Illinois in Industrial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Education and Human Resource Studies from  the Colorado State University. He is a member of the Science Advisory Board for Low Carbon Earth Summit; a founding member of the Midwest Geological Sequestration Consortium, Sequestration Training and Education Program Advisory Board; and chair of the Illinois State Food Policy Committee.
 
Brauer's interview will be on Tuesday, May 29th and will include tours of SCC extension centers and the district. Throughout the day, interview sessions will be available to faculty and staff. At 1 p.m. an open interview session for students, alumni, and residents of the district will be in the River Room located on the main campus near Ullin. The interview process will conclude as Brauer meets with the Shawnee Community College Board of Trustees.
