Coroner: Murphysboro Man Found Dead Along IL Trail
MURPHYSBORO, IL - Funeral services for a man, who authorities believe, died of natural causes before he was discovered along a trail in southern Illinois are still pending.
Jackson County Coroner Thomas Kupferer says 69-year-old Robert Tyson of Murphysboro was found dead Friday by mountain bikers on a trail near Cedar Lake.
Tyson had been reported missing by family members who grew worried after he had not returned home from doing trail maintenance in the area near a Pomona boat launch.
His body was found three miles up a trail north of where his car was parked. Kupferer says Tyson likely died of a heart attack. No autopsy is planned.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Crain Funeral Home in Murphysboro.
