Crash Results in Multiple Injuries, DUI Charges

SIMPSON, IL - A two-car crash Friday night in southern Illinois resulted in multiple injuries.

Illinois State Police responded at approximately 9:40 pm. They determined that 63-year-old Roy M. Scarborough of Simpson crossed the center line of the road and struck a car driven by 20-year-old David R. Ramirez of Metropolis.

Scarborough was apparently not hurt, but Ramirez was taken to Herrin Hospital by Pope County EMS with serious injuries. A passenger in the Ramirez truck, 20-year-old Jasmine R. Reyna of Metropolis, was taken to an Evansville hospital with serious injuries. Two other passengers, 25-year-old Jereme C. Parker of Brookport, and 20-year-old Olivia Ramirez of Brookport, were taken to Heartland Medical Center in Marion by Johnson County EMS.

Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt. Scarborough was cited for improper lane usage, DUI, and agrravated DUI with bodily harm.

The crash is still under investigation.
