The Shawnee National Forest, along with their partners, the Friends of the Shawnee National Forest and Unimin Specialty Minerals, Inc., will be hosting “Critter Night,” a free family event held annually at the Lincoln Memorial Picnic Grounds in Jonesboro, Illinois. The event will be held on Friday, October 17th from 4:30 -6:30 pm. Participants will learn about the nocturnal animals of Illinois, including bats, coyotes and opossums, through crafts, activities and games. The featured special guest will be Bev Shofstall of Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, who will be doing a live owl presentation at 5:30 pm. All ages are welcome, so make plans to be a part as attendees are sure to enjoy fun in the cool outdoors. Dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the Free Again Wildlife Rehab Center’s program.
