FBI Investigates Two IL Police Officers
By WestKyStar Staff
MARION, IL - The Federal Bureau of Investigations is now investigating an incident that happened last month at the Marion, Illinois police department.

In a press release Friday, the FBI said the incident took place on February 10, when a person was arrested on misdemeanor and felony charges. During an administrative review of in-house video, the treatment that the person received from two officers appeared to violate the law and department policy. The Williamson County State's Attorney was contacted, and he asked the Illinois State Police to investigate.

State police conducted an inquiry, and decided that the FBI needed to be involved. The FBI took over the investigation on February 15, and it is ongoing.

As a result of the incident, one officer has resigned, and another is on paid administrative leave while waiting for a hearing with the city's Police and Fire Merit Board.
