BENTON, IL - A federal inmate who walked away from a southern Illinois halfway house one week before completing his five-year sentence for threatening a U.S. president has been sentenced to another year and a half behind bars.
 
Forty-two-year-old Troy Stafford pleaded guilty in March to a felony charge related to his escape last November from the site in Marion.
 
Stafford was serving time related to his conviction for sending a 2006 letter threatening the life of former President George W. Bush.
 
Authorities say Stafford walked away from the halfway house on foot after arguing with staff members over his housing assignment. He was arrested the next month in Connecticut. Stafford also was ordered to spend three years on supervised release after getting out of prison.
