CAVE-IN-ROCK, IL - To assist with a police investigation, the Illinois State Police and Hardin County Sheriff prohibited traffic from crossing the Cave-In-Rock Ferry from Kentucky into Illinois for several hours this morning.
Ferry operator Lonnie Lewis complied with that request, and only allowed traffic from Illinois into Kentucky from 6:00 am, when service began. Traffic from Kentucky into Illinois was restored about 9:00 am.
The ferry connects KY 91 with ILLINOIS Route 1 across the Ohio River between Crittenden County, KY, and Hardin County, IL.
The ferry normally operates from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. central time, 7 days a week.
