Harvest Thyme Festival in Metropolis Today
By WestKyStar Staff
METROPOLIS, IL - Local businesses in Metropolis have collaborated to host an arts and crafts festival today at Washington Park until 3pm. The festival will include many crafty vendors, carriage rides, and musical entertainment. This will be free to the public on Saturday October 13th from 10 am to 3 pm.

The vendors' wares include handmade wreaths, handmade signs, pottery, homemade soaps and lotions, baked goods, homemade candies, and jewelry. Children will also have the opportunity to decorate pumpkins.

Bruggers Carriage Services will be at the festival offering horse-drawn carriage rides through Metropolis.

For entertainment, the Melungeons will be playing in the gazebo. The Melungeons are a family band with a unique eclectic sound, brought together at family events by our love of life and music. Members include, Rhonda James (vocals), Sam Lucas (guitar, banjo, vocals), Thomas Thompson (guitar, vocals), Will Lambert (fiddle, vocals), Tom Summers (banjo, mandolin, vocals).

At the festival, visitors will receive a map with all of the participating businesses. Visit them and enter into a drawing to win Metro Dollars. These dollars can be spent at Metropolis businesses that are members of the Metro Chamber. This is a fun way to visit all of Metropolis’s unique shops and possibly win some money at the same time.
