Car Stops for Hearse, Causes Wreck on US-45 Bridge
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - A car stopped for a hearse on the Brookport Bridge, and caused an accident Tuesday morning.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department got a call just before 11 am, and responded to the scene. They learned that 18-year-old Michael A. Graham of Brookport was southbound on the bridge when he came upon traffic that was stopped because a hearse was crossing in the northbound lane. Graham was unable to stop, and struck the back of a car driven by 26-year-old Melissa Watts of Brookport.

Watts and her two children, 1-year-old Kassanbra and 4-year-old Charles, were treated at the scene by Mercy EMS, and were taken to Western Baptst Hospital for treament.

It is not clear if an escorted funeral procession was crossing the bridge, or just a hearse. The bridge was closed for about one hour for invstigation and cleanup of the scene.
