Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that 38-year-old Steven J. Perry was named in a two count indictment returned by a Federal Grand Jury in Benton, IL. Count 1 of the indictment charges Perry with receipt of child pornography by computer. Count 2 charges Perry with accessing child pornography images online with intent to view them.

Perry made his first appearance in Federal Court Thursday, and his bond hearing is set for Friday, July 13 at 11:00 am. A trial has been set for September 10 in Benton. If convicted, Perry could face up to 10 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and from 5 years to lifetime supervised release.
