According to Illinois State Police, at around 11:15 pm Thursday Cairo police officers found the body of 25-year-old Gloria F. Wiggins while conducting a well-being check at a home on Elmwood Street in Cairo. CPD officers then contacted ISP for assistance.
Police later arrested 43-year-old Christopher H. Simpkins of Cairo in connection to what is being called a homicide.
Police said no motive has yet been determined, and the investigation continues.
