I-24 Ohio River Bridge Reduced to One Lane
By WestKyStar Staff
METROPOLIS, IL - Drivers on Interstate 24 between Paducah and Metropolis will encounter reduced lanes on the Ohio River Bridge beginning Monday while repair work is completed.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Workers will also add barriers in early October to restrict the maximum width to 12 feet, 3 inches.

The restriction will allow contractors to repair joints along the bridge. The work is expected to take about two months.

Upon completion of the joint repair work, the project will be suspended until spring. At that time, lane reductions will resume for resurfacing of the highway.
