Kevil Bank Robbery Suspect Shot in Cairo

A Paducah man wanted in connection to a Ballard County bank robbery has been found and is in custody after he was involved in a shooting.

Just after noon on Saturday, Cairo Police and the Illinois State Police responded to a reported shooting Cairo. When they arrived, officers found 25-year-old Haywood Jones, who had received multiple gunshot wounds, and was taken by ambulance to a southeast Missouri hospital for treatment.

Jones has been extradited to Kentucky and lodged in the Ballard County Detention Center. According to Kentucky State Police, Jones waived extradition before a Missouri judge on Saturday evening and was immediately transported to Ballard County, KY where he faces robbery and handgun charges for his role in the bank robbery in Kevil.  

The Illinois State Police are investigating the Cairo shooting incident.
