Man Charged With Aggravated Domestic Battery

A Metropolis man was arrested on battery charges last week.

Metropolis Police Officers started investigating what they called a "brutal beating," of a woman on June 10 in the 1000 block of Girard Street. A suspect was identified, and a search led him being spotted on Thursday in the area of 11th and Filmore Streets.

After a foot chase a perimeter was set up, and police were able to capture 51-year-old Michael Kent Michell as he ran through back yards near Catherine and 12th Streets.

Mitchell was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery, and was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
