Authorities in Williamson County have charged a man with murder in the hacking death of a man in his Marion home.

The Marion Police Department says officers responded on Jan. 19 to a home in the 200 block of E. Marion Street, where they found 62-year-old Donald Schultz dead inside.

An autopsy was conducted on Monday, and the cause of death was ruled a homicide from "chopping and slicing to the head and body with a machete type weapon".

Police arrested 33-year-old Ernest Alex Pulliam Tuesday in Cape Girardeau, MO. Pulliam is charged with three counts of first degree murder. Counts one and two deal with the intent to kill and knowing the act would cause death. The third count deals with the killing of a victim over the age of 60 during the commission of an armed robbery.

Pulliam was being held at the Cape Girardeau County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Illinois.
