Man Charged with Sending Sexual Texts to Teens

A Metropolis man has been arrested on charges that he was sending sexual text messages to high school students.

Metropolis Police report that one of their detectives had been working an undercover investigation after being advised that several juveniles at the high school were receiving texts. The person making the texts was attempting to set up dates and the messages were sexual in nature.  

Police say the detective posed as a 15 year old female, and was contacted by 32-year-old Anthony Williams of Metropolis. Police say arrangements were made for Williams to meet the “15 year old” at a local business.
 
The investigation, according to police, indicates that Williams showed up at the business. Williams was charged with traveling to meet a minor, grooming, and solicitation to meet a child. Williams has been booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
