A southern Illinois man has been ordered to spend a dozen years in prison for his role in robbing a Carbondale credit union.

The Southern Illinoisan reports that 33-year-old David E. White was sentenced in Jackson County after pleading guilty to a felony count of robbing a financial institution.

Authorities say White robbed the SIU Credit Union on Feb. 3, then fled with 29-year-old Jonathon Whitehead of Carbondale driving the getaway car.

Whitehead was sentenced in April to six and a half years in prison for his role in the holdup.

A judge credited White for 163 days he spent in jail.
