ULLIN, IL - Shawnee Community College is hosting special Meet the President events throughout the college district this fall. The receptions are an opportunity for students, government officials, business leaders, and community members to be introduced to SCC’s president, Dr. Tim Bellamey. Another goal of the events is to improve communication between the college and the local community, supporting the SCC Vision Statement: Student Centered, Community Connected.

Bellamey said, “I look forward to strengthening the relationships between the community and the College." Shawnee's mission is to serve the needs of the students and our diverse community by providing quality higher education, community education, training, and services that are accessible, affordable, and promote life-long learning. "Our primary purpose is to teach and to serve our communities," said Bellamey.

The first two receptions will take place from 5 to 7 pm on August 21 at the Anna Extension Center; and on August 28th at the Metropolis Regional Education and Training Center.

Receptions at the main campus near Ullin and at the new location of the Cairo Extension Center are planned for September.
