BROOKPORT, IL - Police took a man into custody Sunday after finding an active meth lab in a Brookport home.

Deputies served a search warrant at 911 Pell Rd in Brookport Sunday morning. They had been working on information that 32-year-old Christopher Harris had been cooking methamphetamine on the property for some time.

As a result of the search, deputies discovered a meth lab in a storage building behind the home that contained cook bottles, generators, and meth precursors. In the yard of the residence deputies discovered burnt remains of several old meth cooks. Deputies also found Methamphetamine and Meth precursors in Harris' bedroom. The Illinois State Police Meth response Team was called to dismantle the active lab and cleanup the chemical remains on the property.

Harris is being held without bond at the Massac County Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Participation in the production of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors.
