Flood Warning to End On Mississippi River

THEBES, IL -
Water levels continue to fall along portions of the mid-Mississippi River valley, with minor flood conditions expected to end at Cape Girardeau within the next 24 hours.
At 10 a.m. Friday morning, the river level at Cape was 32.5 feet, half a foot above flood stage. Minor flooding has been occurring on the Mississippi River since early July, along with water backing up into adjacent creeks and streams. The river is expected to fall back below flood stage by late Saturday morning.
River levels at Thebes, IL have already fallen below flood stage as of midweek.
No flooding occurred at river gages below Cairo, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.
