A Mounty Vernon man was killed Friday evening in a crash with a semi on Interstate 64.

Illinois State Police says the man, whose name has not been released, was driving east near mile post 51.5 shortly before midnight. His vehicle left the roadway and hit a guardrail, crossed back over both lanes and hit concrete bridge. Just then, a semi driven by 62-year-old Santiago Reyes was unable to stop and hit the man's vehicle in the driver's side.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead on the scene by the Washington County Coroner's Office.

I-64 was closed for about six hours for investigation and cleanup of the crash scene. ISP says no charges have been filed.
