MOUNT VERNON, IL - Authorities in Mount Vernon say a house fire killed one person and injured two others.

Mount Vernon Fire Department officials say the person who died was alone in the home and that the two survivors were injured trying to get that victim out of the home during the early Monday fire.

The victim's name hasn't yet been released.

The house was destroyed.

There's no immediate word about what caused the fire.
