NORRIS CITY, IL - One of four men injured during an explosion in a southern Illinois oil field has died.

Thirty-six-year-old Shane Farris of Enfield died Sunday in the burn unit at a hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Farris had been treated there since shortly after the July 24 explosion near Norris City.

White County Sheriff Doug Maier has said a preliminary investigation shows welders were working on a tank when something ignited. Norris City firefighters quickly doused the blaze.

State fire investigators are assisting in the investigation.

Norris City is a 1,000-resident village near the Illinois-Indiana state line, about 50 miles west of Evansville, Ind.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
