Two Massac County residents were arrested last week on drug charges after one of them was recognized by police.

On April 14, Metropolis Police Officer saw a car driven by 41-year-old Melinda L. Anderson of Metropolis, and knew a warrant had been issued by McCracken County for failure to appear in court. Officers approached the vehicle in a business parking lot after the passenger, 31-year-old Brandon Meyers got out. They arrested Anderson, and during a search they reportedly found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and pills, later identified as Percocet and Clonazepam, which are controlled substances.

During the vehicle search, police say Meyers came back to the car, but then denied he had been a passenger. When he was told that he had been seen getting out of the car, Meyers became agitated. Police say a backpack in the car had items that indicated he owned the backpack, and he was searched. Police say they found marijuana in his pocket, and Meyers was arrested.

Anderson was charged with the McCracken County warrant, and for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and controlled substances. Meyers was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They were taken to Massac County Detention Center.
