Overnight Storms Bring Damage, Heavy Rain

WESTERN KY, SOUTHERN IL, SOUTHEAST MO -

Last Night's storms brought torrential rains and some wind damage to the area.  

The National Weather Service reported damage in several areas between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 12 a.m. Wednesday.
 
Windows were reported blown out of homes in Benton and Brewer, as well as signs blown down and minor home damage along Highway 94 near Murray, KY.

Property damage on Hwy 358 near LaCenter, KY was also reported.

A trailer was blown over and a roof blown off a business near New Madrid, MO.

68 mile-per-hour winds, windows blown out of a business and transformers blown out were all reported in Metropolis, IL. There were also reports of numerous trees down, several businesses with damage and two people injured in Galatia, IL.

70 mile-per-hour wind gusts were recorded in West Frankfort, IL. A semi tractor-trailer was reported overturned and trees were blocking numerous roads near Cape Girardeau, MO.
 
Those traveling in the area of I-55 near mile marker 97 should detour using route K and highway 61 for the next few hours.
