Power Restored in Massac County

Several hundred homes and businesses in Massac County were without power Monday night.

Metropolis Emergency Management notified residents just before 9 pm that the outage was due to a problem with Ameren, which supplies power to the city and county. Metropolis and Brookport were reportedly without electricity.

It was originally estimated that the outage would be fixed within an hour, but Emergency Management updated the situation at 9:44 pm, saying Ameren was still trying to track down the problem.

A similar outage related to Ameren's supply of electricity occurred about a month ago.

As of Tuesday morning, all power has been restored by Ameren, according to their outage map.
