Multiple agencies were on the scene Tuesday afternoon and recovered the body.
According to McCracken County Sheriff Matt Carter, someone called Massac County Dispatch about 1:30 pm, which then notified McCracken County Dispatch about a possible body in the water.
The bridge was closed to traffic from that time until about 3 pm, until the body could be recovered. Several agencies put boats in the water or acted as spotters from the bridge or shoreline during search and recovery efforts.
Sheriff Carter says it has not yet been determined if foul play was involved.
Anyone with information regarding a missing person within the past month, or anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Sherriff’s Office.
An autopsy will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation. Any additional information discerned from the investigation will be released as soon as possible.
