A Louisville man wanted for walking away from a halfway house in Paducah was arrested Thursday afternoon, and has been charged with robbing a southside convenience store.

According to Paducah Police, 28-year-old Kennedy L. Hale was arrested by Metropolis Police at a home on East 6th Street in Metropolis.

Paducah Police were investigating the robbery of Fivestar Food Mart at 3474 Wayne Sullivan Drive on January 12th. An employee told police a man walked into the business just after 1:30 am Saturday and said, “Give me all the money,” several times. She said he then gave her a note demanding money. The employee gave him an undetermined amount of cash and he fled from the store.

The investigation led Paducah Police detectives to Hale, who was staying with an acquaintance in Metropolis. They, along with Metropolis Police, conducted surveillance and arrested Hale at the Metropolis home on an absconding charge. Hale admitted to robbing the convenience store during an interview with detectives.

A warrant was obtained Friday, charging Hale with second degree robbery. He remains in the Massac County Detention Center, in Metropolis.

Hale was sent to Keeton Correctional Facility’s halfway house in Paducah in November of 2018, after serving time in prison on a 2014 robbery conviction in Jefferson County. He walked away from the facility in December.
