The owners of a southern Illinois mobile home park have reached a $75,000 settlement with the U.S. Justice Department over allegations of housing discrimination.

Lyle, Kyle and David Williams were accused of violating the federal Fair Housing Act by discriminating against prospective black renters as well as

families with children at the Williams Trailer Court in Marion.

A consent order filed Monday in federal court says that trailer court manager and co-owner Lyle Williams told several potential black renters in 2014 that no

homes were available while offering homes for rent to white would-be tenants.

The agreement sets aside $45,000 to compensate those who were discriminated against. Another $30,000 in civil penalties was assessed.

The trailer court owners must also undergo training on the Fair Housing Act.
