A man accused of killing two bank employees during a robbery gone wrong in Cairo will stand trial in 2017.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Benton says James Watts' trial has been set for January 23, 2017. Watts is accused of fatally stabbing 52-year-old Anita Grace of Olive Branch and 52-year-old Nita Smith of Wickliffe, KY, as well as injuring another woman during a 2014 botched robbery at First National Bank in Cairo.

Watts has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted armed bank robbery resulting in death. He could face the death penalty if convicted.
