The Southern Illinoisan reports Brian Burns of Harrisburg appeared in court Friday. Judge Walden Morris set his trial for Jan. 17 on two counts of murder and one count of concealment.
Prosecutors say Brian Burns fatally shot his wife, Carla Burns, in March 2016. She was reported missing, setting off a search before charges were filed days later.
Court records show Carla Burns sought a restraining order against Brian Burns.
He also was convicted last week of attempted kidnapping for trying to have the former Saline County state's attorney kidnapped while he was in jail facing murder charges.
