Two Arrested for Battery, Drugs in Metropolis

METROPOLIS, IL - A Chicago man and a Carbondale woman were arrested Tuesday afternoon in Metropolis.

The Massac County Sheriff's Department received a call saying someone had been beaten at a home on McCrary Street. Metropolis Police and Sheriff's Deputies responded about noon and interviewed the victim. He told police that his fiancee' and young son were being held against their will in the home. Illinois State Police and the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force helped set up a perimeter, and eventually entered the home. The woman and child were not hurt.

Two people were arrested at the scene: 28-year-old Lawrence E. Richardson of Chicago and 20-year-old Abrienna D. Mix of Carbondale. Richardson is charged with aggravated battery, intimidation, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mix is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were taken to Massac County Detention Center.

The investigation continues.
